Money only exists in our minds - an interesting art peace that provokes a huge mixture of emotions in everyone. Iv'e seen city councils spend more than a million on decorative benches.

It was NEVER a waste. These guys bravely showed that art as commodity is actually worth shite!

The only value of art is art itself. That may be beauty, paradoxical visions of reality, perceptual inquiry, whatever. One thing that art is NOT, is commodity. Although, it can be? It's a constant paradox of enquiry and perception.

I do like and respect your opinion, I agree with your point on building schools, but money will be needed to afford medication, hospital equipment for hospitals and the like. Thank you for your reply.

Actually, burning the money causes deflation which helps everyone. Also, the world doesn't need to build anything, people might think it does - but they're not seeing the forest for the trees - as it's people who need to build things, and not necessarily schools either... a park can be turned into a school with the right people involved. Stop being so money, start being a bit more people!

The cycle continues with existing money but not with the money that was burnt. It's a lot of money to waste. It doesn't help the poor, but it could. Alternatively just using it on buying anything will contribute to keep people in work. If they want to do it, then it's in their right, but it doesn't make the decision any better or less selfish.. It will not have an affect on the bigger picture, but it could have helped a lot of people or contribute to society just by buying things.

One million pounds will help a fraction of the world. Who cares if the money only goes towards changing one life or one million lives? It still would have been one life better off. You act like what they did wasn't wrong.

People who donate aren't being lazy you fucking idiot, they're being generous. The world needs money to build schools and houses, it's how the world works.

Many people fly out to countries to raise money, they don't just sit on their backside all day and complain.

Secondly, how is buying a few cars or several cars not wasteful? I can buy a turkey and eat half of it, then throw away the other half. Sure in this process I feel good and I have enjoyment from being full but I have wasted turkey (I have bought more than I could eat), the same thing applies to owning three cars while only driving one; the other two cars are a waste, and although I feel good having them they are essentially worthless. A better argument would be - buy three cars, give two away...

Yes the already insanely rich corporations need more money, how does that help the poor? I thought people were on here arguing about helping others, not billion $ corporations. The cycle will continue with or without that money, since it is not really based on gold, it is based on an idea - ideas cannot be burned. Yes it is their decision isn't it, so I guess that's the end of argument, they made their decision and we can all go to hell and back.
