What Reiss actually said (see his Guardian article of 11Sep08, whose title and 1st para he was not responsible for) was 'I feel that creationism is best seen by science teachers not as a misconception but as a world view. This is not the same as saying (as SIr John suggests here) that it is a *legitimate* view (worldview being simply 'the overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world'). The whole attack on Reiss was based on a faulty or perhaps non-reading of his text.
