From the archives of They Might Be Giants' Dial-A-Song is the song "What Is Everyone Staring At?". This song would later become Sleepwalkers from the album No!.
Lyrics:
The hurtful things we said
Are behind us in the past
Our fight is at an end
Now we're back in love again
I love the way you laugh
At my failure of a life
You love my misinterpretation
Of the things you say
When we're walking
When we're out together
Jealous people watch us
Clinking glasses and stuff
Let them talk all they want
Is there something so
Wrong about two people?
Is there something wrong with love?
What is everyone staring at?
What is everyone looking at?
Haven't they seen
Two people in love?
What is everyone staring at?
Have I got something on my face?
Should I rub my hand
On the side of my mouth?
Did I forget to wash somewhere?
Can you please inspect my teeth?
Later on
I took you to the movies
Everyone was laughing
At the boy and a girl
And they wouldn't shut up
Is there something so weird
About two people?
Is there something wrong with love?
What is everyone staring at?
What is everyone looking at?
Haven't they seen two people in love?
What is everyone staring at?
The one time I called, back in college on a budget, the song went
You say the writing's on the wall
You should know because you wrote it all
Clever bastards.

@FlyinMunky40 not anymore, john and john decommissioned the answering machine a long time ago. dial-a-song is now web-only. however, when it was active, it did take messages. "untitled" from their miscellaneous t album is an excerpt of a conversation picked up by the dial-a-song machine, and "i'll sink manhattan" uses a message from the NYPD played backwards. in short, you could have prank called it, but that's no longer the case.

Hmm, is it possible to prank call dial a song?

i like the extreme lo-fi sound of dial-a-song tunes. adds a surreal yet personal touch, like a love letter from another dimension

I don't see where he said he liked it more because less people hear it. You're not only arguing a voice in your head and calling people names for no reason, you're extrapolating a completely illogical conclusion.
You probably go online starting arguments with people and calling them elitists when they disagree with you. YOU are the child.

This is a good song, but better than Sleepwalkers? You think this song is better because less people would like/hear it? You weird elitist child.

Surprisingly enough, one of my all-time favorite TMBG songs. ("Sleepwalkers" just doesn't compare.) I desperately wish this ended up on a podcast in hi-fi.

I wish this service was still up.
