I have to agree. The magic and "essence" of Vegas is definitely gone. Nothing---and I mean nothing---compares to the 60's even 70'era era Vegas. I was just there two weeks ago and was insistent on staying downtown. Even then, just minute traces are still left of that period. As great as the mega hotels like the Belaggio and Wynn are, they simply don't compare. To this day, the neon lights of the Stardust is one of my all-time favorites!

Since many people miss these old hotels (mostly seniors), what I think should have been done is that after they were imploded they should have then been rebuilt Downtown to add more nostalgia to that part of the city. I prefer having classic/vintage and new/modern buildings coexisting hand in hand rather than just getting new structures period anyway.

I love the old modern contemporary architectural buildings and houses of the past! Such art and beauity, so sad that it is all gone!

@farnumbp you mean the flamingo which started it all!

Las Vegas is it's own enemy. They tear town and rebuild over places that were the place to be.

Too bad they ran the mob out. My grandfather said it was safer when they ran things..

Wow, Jefferson Starship at the Aladdin, that would have bee fun to see
@farnumbp The only hotel that will be left from oceans 11 if the riviera gets demolished is the Flamingo

@smartestmanonnet the music I had on their before got a copyright claim. And all of the music is made by composers that you have never heard of. So I chose this one.
