Stephen Colbert, who was not allowed on the South Carolina ballot but was included in the GeniusRocket Primary, has dropped out of the presidential race. "Although I lost by the slimmest margin in presidential election history — only 10 votes — I have chosen not to put the country through another agonizing Supreme Court battle," said Colbert. "It is time for this nation to heal."

Sadly this throws a wet blanket over our recent report that:

The Facebook group set up to support Stephen Colbert, the newest addition to the presidential race, has now gained more than one million members. Its name, "2,000,000 Strong for Stephen T Colbert," is an homage to the Barack Obama group, "One Million Strong For Barack," which still hasn't broken the 400,000 mark. The fact that Colbert, who is a joke candidate, gained so many online supporters in so little time means that either political support on Facebook is still poorly understood, or Colbert is actually catching on. Either way, it's now primary time. Is South Carolina ready

President Colbert is tied with Senator Joe Biden in the polls and has topped Dennis Kucinich and Bill Richardson:

Joe Biden: 2.7%
Stephen Colbert 2.3%
Bill Richardson 2.1%
Dennis Kucinich 2.1%

In the the words of the immortal Pat Paulson(prez candidate): "I've upped my standards. Now up yours"!

Gee, it was kinda fun for awhile. But as President Colbert would say, "Up your dix-no-notch"!

THE POLITICS OF LIFE
25 Rules for Survival in a Brutal and Manipulative World
By Craig Crawford

Being nice and polite only gets you so far in the world. Craig Crawford recognizes that the world can be a cruel place, and outlines 25 ways to stick up for yourself and make yourself heard in the politics of daily living. Publishers Weekly says, "Crawford's tone can be harsh, but the slight flinching reaction one might begin with segues to enjoyment and identification as Crawford presents recognizable real-life scenarios, prompting plenty of ah-ha moments of practical discovery."

Inspired by famed sixteenth century philosopher, Niccolo Machiavelli, THE POLITICS OF LIFE: 25 RULES FOR SURVIVAL IN A BRUTAL AND MANIPULATIVE WORLD provides rules that are effective and useful in your business, your personal life and your own "politics" of life.

The 10 commandments will get you to heaven, but Craig Crawford's 25 rules will help you survive the purgatory on earth.
-Larry J. Sabato, Director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics

So many of us say we hate politics, but we play politics every day.

  • perfect timing for this video, and once the debates go Main stream and the good guy republicans face the evil dem's these lessons and points will be so true from Mr Crawfords new book... a good read.. even if you do not agree with all of his positions

  • Keep an eye on those dastardly dems, and give us a heads-up when that use one of those Machiavellian tactics.

  • It frequently is best to watch these debates with an alternate soundtrack.

Politics as circus. Need a good photo of Craig (in blue, by popular demand) at the end, for a few seconds. He might be more recognized than one thinks. (Hey, there's the guy who's always arguing with Pat Buchanan!)

  • Excellent point! We should have added a picture, thank you for that suggestion.

  • hooboy...now i have this urge to go to the circus....maybe the next debate will take the edge off.

  • Hey no problem, all of these guys and gal are touring the country... maybe to a location near you.

  • Haha i love it.

There are only two pics of Ron Paul. (I think).

They are right at the end.

    Both of him smiling.

And then a sort of dumbfounded-looking Tancredo

I think its a sign of things to come.

  • Ron paul 08. google him see if he shares your beliefs. dont make a decision until u are informed

  • Unfortunatley the presidency is a popularity contest. the fact that Colbert did so well proves it, even if he did withdrawl.

  • pretty sad aint it?

  • Bush's two elections were a joke, so it seems fitting to me to at least let Colbert run if he gets some votes in the primaries.

  • First of all, Lorne Michaels had little to do with the successes of Al Franken and Bill Maher. Secondly, even if that WERE the case, in what child's storybook world is Lorne Michaels more evil than the medical or military industrial complexes? In what psychotic delusion is Lorne more evil than the Rothschilds or the Rockefellers?
