2009-05-26
On May 26, Vancouverites joined other Day of Decision rallies to protest the California Supreme Court upholding Proposition 8, the ballot measure in which 52% of voters banned same-sex marriage. In the second half of the rally, speakers talked about how good it was to have same-sex marriage in Canada. At the end, Roger Chin proposed to his boyfriend, Jim VanDeventer, as the crowd erupted in applause. Thanks to Patrick Monaghan, an off-duty CTV cameraman who provided this video.

Our documentary will premiere at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival August 21st, and I hope to enter the film at American film festivals in the future (just have had time so far).
