The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly. In 2001, through the adoption of resolution 55/282, the General Assembly established 21 September as the Day in which to commemorate peace on an annual basis.

With the theme of "Peace and Democracy: Make Your Voice Heard", the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Peace is being celebrated at UN Headquarters on 15 September.

The video was produced by the Department of Public Information.
