The instrumental goes hand in hand with the prayer, and I don't want the two to be separate (at least, not in theme) -- they're important to one another. I think there's a reason for why instrumentals are instrumentals, that is to say, why they are what they are and why they make us feel the way we do when we listen to them; and just like a short story with invisible messages and invisible concepts and emotions, instrumentals could mean a lot of things, but there are some things that are 'given.' Mark Twains The War Prayer, for example, was pretty clearly not (at least intended to be) about aliens invading a middle-eastern souq and wreaking havoc by scattered produce and jewelry everywhere. And so, any element of the theme behind the prayer or the notes are what's 'given in this tune, which I decided to call The Road To Emmaus—a story whose theme should further elaborate on what Im getting at.
Anyway, the notes I wrote about it after it 'happened' (everything I 'compose' is really just an accident -- on my part, anyway, because I have no idea what the hell it is I'm doing, ever) are as follows, for further clarity:
For the darkest times in life when you feel all hope is lost, when you feel downcast and when you feel like there is nothing left to live for, because those are the moments that always seem to come before a breakthrough if you just keep your ears and your heart open.
O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
*One last thing: I've turned off comments because I want all the commentary to be within the individual and for his or her own perspectives and feelings—his or her own experience—and naturally, that is completely devoid of me. I dont want anything to even have a chance of tainting that, so now Ill break off and hope that you, whoever you are, take something in this thing—whatever it might be—as close and warm to your heart as you can.
THE FAITH PRAYER
