I didn't find my original video of Steamboat Ski Resort's Storm Peak Express lift to be fully satisfying, so I uploaded a new version. This version features much of the same footage as before, but also makes use of some footage I didn't use before.

The opening photos also allow you to see what the paint scheme of this lift and that of the Sundown Express lift used to look like (blue and gray, compared to the present red and gray scheme that I like better). This footage was recorded over the course of a single weekend in February 2011. Also, I added in some photos. On the upper part of the lift, they serve to show you what that part of the lift looks like in clear weather (since the take I used on the upper leg of the lift was filmed in whiteout conditions).

You will also get to see a bit of the Storm Peak Express lift's history that I didn't mention in the original video. I didn't mention that from 1992 to 2003, the lift featured bubbles on its chairs, as did the Sundown Express lift. Both lifts had their bubbles taken off to reduce the risk of wind closures.

Some other things to notice: notice that the Doppelmayr signs on the lift shacks both at the bottom and at the top are written in German. This is no surprise, considering that Doppelmayr, the lift manucfacturer, is a German company.
You will also notice Storm Peak's reputation for very white trees during and after big snowstorms.

I made use of some more footage and photos I had found in this version.

  • Just curious, what is this 25 minutes of lift line and breathing sound video actually for?

  • @yakker45 Video length was mostly determined on how much time I got to be around a lift, determining how much I could film there. In the case of the Storm Peak Express, I happened to record four trips up the lift (three with clear skies, and one with snowy conditions). This utilizes the trip with the snowy conditions.
