Our Christmas light display in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. There are 42,000 lights on 320 Light-O-Rama light channels. This particular song is Wizards In Winter by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We did this song this year because it is fast paced and very enjoyable to program and watch. The two mega trees are 25' tall with about 10,000 lights per tree. The keyboards on the each side of the house are colored Plexiglas with 40-watt bulbs behind them. The light triangles under the eves are 400 mini lights. At full load, the lights pull 207 amps but are only at full load for about 2 seconds. It costs 65 cents/hour to run our entire show and the music is broadcast over FM station 89.3. We did a canned food drive this Christmas and received nearly 1,300 pounds of food. And we have the best neighbors because they put up with the thousands of cars that came down our dead-end road for over 5 weeks!

  • ok 10000 lights per tree how many channels is that and how many amps per channel

  • @TheWackskater : 96 strands of 100 mini bulbs. Star up top contains 400 mini-bulbs (rope light later). Each 100 light strand is roughly 1/3 amp. Of the 96 strands, 48 are color and 48 are white. The white and color strands alternate around the tree. Two strands of same color per channel. 49 channels for entire tree (the star is its own channel). Roughly 35 amps per tree when fully lit. You can put more strands per channel to lessen the channels needed. For my tree, 2/3 amp per channel.

  • you must have some very understanding neighbors to have the whole street black so you can film this.

  • @GoddessOfWhim2003 : We do have understanding neighbors especially since it was a deadend road. But our road is a single road out in the countryside with lots of spaces between the houses. Nothing behind us except a downhill slope and cows. In fact, I set my camera up in the cow pasture across the road to get the whole thing on the screen. Every once in a while, you can see the very faint outline of a fence post off to the side.

  • I was just wondering if you have problems with your display when it rains? I wrapped my plugs with electrical and duct tape to be extra sure it was water tight and still when it rained christmas eve my show would not run. Any suggestions on any additional precautions I could take?
