  • there is an easier method, (windows 7) go to your control panel > appearance and personalization > show hidden files and folders > un-check "hide extensions for known types" > OK

    go to your video file now, it should have the following after the name (im using example)

    "example.mov"

    rename and change the last part to .avi and remove the .mov

    windows asks you if you want to change format, say yes, and there you go!

  • @FrankieT4NG Sorry buddy, but changing the file extension doesnt actually convert the file, instead it makes the computer think it has an avi file when its actually a mov file. It still wont work in widnows movie maker and it wont work like an avi, it will only work like a mov because thats what it is. There's a reason people convert files from one thing into another instead of Just changing it to the extension they want Thumbs up so people arent trying something that doesnt work.
