who would you tell if you had seen a nuclear bomb being built in Iran?

I agree but then i consider this...
'A secret source who works in a bomb factory has just revealed that Iran has built it's first bomb and ordered 3 tons of Cyanide'. It could be made up or true.
It means the story could not be printed if the person didn't want to have their name printed. A lot of news starts with a rumour.

@auntyangela People in authority need to be held accountable, simple as that. If you haven't got a name (or can't give one) don't write the article, it's meaningless.

i know , a fine line isn't it, which is best (hide your sources or not) i don't know.
in a perfect world we could all tell the truth and save the hassle but...
the reality is that if you tell the wrong truth at the wrong time it is ignored or even worse you do prison.
Glad i am not a journalist.

@auntyangela But when it is used by those in authority they have the abillity to manipulate the public. Terrorists, fine. If you've got something to hide, hide it. What exactly are the police hiding though?

RE: Heather Brooke, anonymous reporting has a plus side, it means a good reporter could arrange a secret interview with a terrorist without ever having to reveal/expose them, it's great way to get someone real views.
This is just a UK thing?
