  • Wat was the speed of that train? Going kinda fast for a GP-40!

  • Don't know. Speed limit for Amtraks around here is 110mph, though I don't think this MARC was going that fast.

  • the first train is the ugliest train i have ever seen!

  • Coal trains are very common on this part of the NEC....the NEC is the only connection between CSX's ex PRR Pope's Creek Subdivision and the outside world. These coal trains go to the Mirant (ex PEPCO) generating plants at Chalk Point and Morgantown, both on the Pope's Creek Subdivision.

  • The SD80s are almost exclusive to the Popes Creek secondary. On occasion CW44ACs, GP40-2s, CW60ACs.

  • All EMD on the head

  • Uncommen to find 3 SD80MACs on one coal train from where i come from. I usually see like 2 AC4400s,SD70MACs,SD70ACes,ES44ACs and their DC counterparts

  • That dang MARC train was speeding. Nice view of the CSX.

  • The latter however is common on the NEC in Maryland. SD80s running 'local' coal trains that is.
