Eighties legend Phil Collins has finally plucked up the nerve to play Against All Odds, for the first time in 23 years (play & sing).
In fact the ex-Genesis drummer has only performed this famous hit three times, labelling it his 'trouble song' after stumbling through the piano chord changes in front of 1.5 billion viewers.
Collins says, "I played it when I wrote it, and I played it at Live Aid twice in one day and apart from that I've never played it.'

  • His voice is still genius, his tone is still there. What he has lost is the ability to hit the notes on "there's nothing LEFT HERE" and "BACK TO ME," which are insanely hard notes to hit for a male of any ability, non falsetto.

Whatever, it's still endearing to me. They say an artist suffers for his art, and there's something painfully beautiful about the way he "hits" those notes at this age.

  • Phil is nothing short of being a savant !

  • after all these years you still have the x factor phill for ever

  • His voice sounds so weak now...............

  • @CatalinPop Yes, you're right, I didn't pay much attention to what it says in the brackets (play & sing). Anyway it's a hard song to sing both on vocals and on piano in the key of D flat but he did a pretty good job!

  • @peavy82 : I think they reffer only to the times when Phil played this song both vocals&piano. Otherwise, he certainly played the song more than once in 23 years:)

  • for the first time in 23 years? not true! he sang this one in Berlin in 1990 and Paris in 1997, both amazing performances!!

  • My favorite song back in 1985...such sweet memories, thanks Phil, you're fabulous!

  • @blinkuldhc Love your comment. :)

  • @azucho98 True statement. Daryl is still amazing.

  • @misskity6

    yes, David Gilmour.

  • He's seems like such a warmhearted and genuinely kind person.

Tarzan wouldn't be the same without his musical influence.
