@Ahsan3482 Simply because the holy prophet (P.) did not do so :) The Maliki Sunnis don't put their arms over each other.

@QFS08 It is a piece of clay, we put this because according to Fiqh, we are not allowed to do Sujood on carpet or anything like that. It has to be on Earth, like clay, rock, grass, etc. just like how the prophet used to pray. There are many ahadith that support this.
