I'm not sure Joey has retired or that 24.6 is the fastes 400 ever. It might be correct if you are talking about 400 meters done in 500 meter races, but if you take the first lap on the 1 000 I'm sure there has been faster times. Only during the world single distance championships D Morrison did a 24.6 lap and he was almost 3/10 of the WR...

Really? Guess he retired then because he had reached his peek, not a bad decision. Anyway, 24.6 must be the fastest 400 meters possibly ever done on skating. The first 100 meters weren`t all that, "only" 9.66. Kang Seok-Lee had a much faster opening, 9.46, but "only" 24.7 on the last 400. So there`s still room for improvement, maybe there`ll always be.
Simple mathematics tells us that Kato`s last 400 was 15/100 seconds faster than Lee`s, because Lee`s opening was 2/10 seconds faster.

Joey is nice. He even donated his price money from the Olympics to the Right to Play organization
