From the Joan Crawford film "Sadie Mckee" originally taken at a slow pace. Here it gets the Jack Payne treatment in this fine up tempo rendition.

  • Yes,the arrangement was well done:it was done in a close sort of brought in of itself manner. I thought the band swung! Back in the day,i would have been honoured to dance before them!

  • Indeed a very rousing performance! I like this very much, it's got a very compact arrangement and great solos. Not forgetting the very pleasant vocal chorus by Jack Payne himself. An extraordinary recording, lucky you ;D

  • Never heard it as up beat as this-excellant!I always run out of words of praise when i commentbut they are always sincerely meant even if repeated!I did not know this came from a film, though im sure ive heard it on a film being played on a portable gram sung by a french lady??

  • Hi

Great number and nice HMV Gramophone - great sound.

    Warm regards

    Richard

  • Excellent..Quite different to that other hot version by Ray Noble..The B.D.Bands did have a habit of give a peppy treatment to slower numbers played sweet in the USA
