  • Is your dog a blue heeler? Reminds me of our gold hunting dog rowdy... They make great prospecting partners.

  • @ProspectorJess - Ripley is a 50 50 mix of Blue Heeler and Boarder Collie. She is extremely smart, and goes everywhere with me. When I prospect, she watch's my back. - BTW, I pretty sure I like the Blue Heeler part of her the best....though that part can be just a little autistic....for lack of a better word. :)

  • Wow, I can see my self now with a bucket or two a small shovel a classifier or two and a gold pan and a dog. Great video

And I wont forget the chair.

  • @xshanghu - I'm really surprised you don't see more people tending sluice boxes sitting in a chair. - I'm thinking about putting a table out there too, with some beer and a small TV on it. ;)

  • How do you know if you're on someones claim ? That'd be harsh to find out the hard way.

  • @RECONDO101st - They should be clearly posted as a Federal Gold Claim. If they are not clearly marked and posted, I'm sure that would be an affirmative defense.

  • 4:27 beautiful!

  • @GungHo1032 I think I know what you mean...

Some days when our heeler Rowdy gets it in his head, while we are out prospecting, he will pull up rocks from the creek bottom and then proceed to shake water all over us (and the gear). These dogs are dedicated to watching our back though, which can come in really handy when there's a cougar around.

With a 50-50 smart-smart mix, you must have a lot of fun!

    Good prospecting!

  • @RECONDO101st - Opps, I meant to reply to you....so here it is again...

No license is required. And in all National Forests or BLM areas, there are no permits required just for panning. But of course there are a lot of rules and regulations once the you start sluicing, dredging, and digging. - Oh, and since claim jumping is a felony, you have to be careful about where your at.
