So how did you get started playing, man? I'm just starting out and am not sure if I should go for lessons or if I can teach myself. Any suggestions? Awesome playing, BTW. :)

jhune08: Well, Brad Paisley once said that learning jazz was critical in helping him learn country...and that's coming from one of the best living country guitarists that I know of.
So, I'd start by learning jazz, if I were you.
Also, there are instructional DVDs out there--look for DVDs by Brent Mason, Danny Gatton and Johnny Hiland.
