Campagnolo video demonstration of 2009 Ergopower Ultra Shift overhaul. Note that rather than holding the lever in your hand while pushing out pivot pin (the operation shown at 0:18), it's easier to support the lever on a roll of packing tape (resting on its side on a table). Also, be very careful not to lose the 2 very small ball bearings set in the indexing wheel. There is no audio available (the Campagnolo DVD had a file folder labeled as "audio," but contained no files.

  • I thought Campy wore in not wore out??? Havin to already give instructions on how to fix "worn out" 2009 Campy Levers? ROTFLMFAO

  • That's a somewhat dimwitted way to look at it. I suppose that you'd expect that companies shouldn't prepare overhaul instructions until they learn that something needs repair. You probably don't ride enough to wear anything out anyway.

  • Remember when your brake lever had three pieces and your shifters were on the downtube? Everything worked perfectly forever with minor lube. Problem with cycling today is they keep trying to fix what isn't broken to begin with.

  • Yes, I do remember, but I'd rather ride with Ergopower - any day of the week.

  • What a wonder of function and simplicity! Compare this to the dozens of parts in a Shimano Ultegra lever. Once you take one of those Humpty Dumptys apart, you ain't never getting it together again. And try finding a video on overhauling a Shimano STI lever. You can't because there aren't any! "Just throw it away when it breaks" is their philosophy.

  • @logpos Expensive? Brand new Veloce 10-speed shifters are about $150, if you know where to look. They have virtually the same internals as the 11-speed shifters, except for the parts that make them 10-speed instead of 11-speed. Try finding new Ultegra shifters for even close to $150.

  • @cbgthree I know a lot of people like the new technology and there is nothing wrong with that at all. I ride 60-100 miles per week and the terrain requires plenty of gear changes. I just prefer the friction shifters. I use suntour power shifter units, both downtube and bar cons (on different bikes) which I suppose is a little different technology than old school friction units. I wouldnt call the brifters a huge inprovement but just different technology. Different spokes for different folks.

  • @tmackinator Something doesn't have to be broken to be improved upon. Brake/shift levers are a huge improvement over downtube shifters. They make the sport much more enjoyable, unless you happen to live in pancake-flat territory or otherwise hardly ever shift. And downtube shifters were a huge improvement over whatever preceded them (no shifting at all, I suppose ...).

  • Now I understand why the shifters are so damn expensive...

  • Brilliant and hilarious.... Admire the care and attention with the precision dismantling and re-assembly, right upto the point when he bangs the Brake Lever pivot pin in with a dirty great hammer and then on the 4th blow, cleanly misses the pin and smacks the carbon lever blade with the hammer.

    Brilliant.....

  • Well, to each his own I guess, too bad about the language though.

  • get with times grandpa...shit
