Occupy Fresno rally at Courthouse Park, Saturday 15OCT11 was fun and educational. The Raging Grannies sang Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" and provided a welcome focus to the event. I saw some Truthers there with a giant banner that said "Building 7", you know the one across from the Twin Towers that came down, as they say, all on it's own. There's always some Grand Conspiracy that's keeping us back. Then there was a guy handing out pages about the evils of the Federal Reserve Bank, one of the fave topics of Libertarians and others on the far right. I mentioned to an old gent in an electric wheelchair that trying to get Liberals all together was like herding cats. He reminded me that the Right is similarly divided. But, I don't think Peace Activists go to Tea Party rallies to siphon off stragglers. The Right-Wingers who were there reminded me of wolves following the herd looking for an ignorant or confused one to indoctrinate. I don't think the Occupy Wall Street movement will produce a Congressional Delegation in 2012 the way the Tea Party did in 2010.
I do think it's being influenced by the Arab Spring, in that, there is an awakening throughout the world because of the internet. Fax machine + collapse of the Soviet Union = Twitter + Arab Spring.
