Technique for attaching soft clay to soft clay. No scoring or slip. Just applying firm pressure to get a good strong joint. They small clay coil is used to reinforce the joints, and the blending is to make sure both parts are joint securely. Finally give a little pull to the new piece of clay that was attached, to test how good the joints are. If it come loose than you are not applying enough pressure in joining the two pieces together. Finally, if the clay is all the same softness, you don't have to wrap the whole thing in plastic to equalize the moisture of the clay to ensure event shrinkage rate.

  • not trying to be rood but that is an incorect method u should score it it takes half the time and insures stability

  • @powellskaterjc , this only works for soft clay to soft clay, if you are working with stiff, or leather-hard clay, then you need to score slip/magic water (50 water 50 cooking vinegar) like normal. This is a special technique, specifically for soft to soft clay attachment. The advantage is that you are not making your soft clay from becomming too soggy or too soft to work with when you add slip or water.

  • I was always taught to use a scoring method. It prevents you from making shallower spots in the clay base by pressing on it. And it's basically the same property as velcro.

  • im not saying this to be mean but i dont think you attached the clay properly together at the start and also why are you working on a pottery wheel

  • AWSOME!!!
