In 1982-1983, le T.P. O.K. Jazz recorded eight songs with this vocal combination of Josky Kiambukuta (solo) with Aimé Kiwakana, Lokombe Ntal, Madilu System.

These songs were: Nganda Lopango Batekisa and Mbanzi Ya Kamundele by Lutumba Simaro and actually five compositions by Josky: Soeto (not Soweto), Alita, Mehida, Massikini and Limbisa Ngai. And finally, Serment, composed by a fan (!).

Serment is the only tune out of these eight on which Franco played on the recorded version, in live shows he could always choose to play on another but this is how it went.

So, this song is the only record of Franco playing with these four singers.

Weka hayo maneno watu tutanunua ikibidi.

  • @AboubacarSiddikh Would you be in possession of the song Okundji. The announcement photo on the back of the LP you have used above. Post if you have it please. NB: I was under the impression the vocal ensemble you talked of above [Lokombe and Kiwakana or Kikwana] feature in Okundji too. Not so?

  • Fantastic music Aboubacar! Thanks for your postings and sharing your vast wealth of music knowledge.I find your commentaries very insightful. I also notice that you know a lot about Zimbabwean music too!!

Anyway, would happen to have Laissez-Nous Tranquilles from Les rumeurs.Would be delighted if you posted it

  • Thanks for the correction. I would right now give anything for the song Alita specifically.

  • You have the 4 greats - of course it is going to a master piece!
