At midnight June 13/14 2011 Canada Post workers from CUPW went on their rotated 24 hour strike. This is a look at some of the sights and sounds from that night. I speak with Farshad Azadian an active member in the Toronto Young New Democrats, a strong activist wing of the NDP in Toronto.
CUPW is striking nationally to prevent a two-tier system where younger workers are paid less. Many CUPW members believe this is bad long-term plan that may cause divisions within the union by pitting younger workers against older workers. They are fighting for worker's safety as well. In the 1980s CUPW won maternity leave for female workers.
This took place on Eastern Ave. in Toronto, Ontario.
