There are great American ones, just unfortunantly our society is too vain to truly get behind them and promote them like they should be promoted. Instead we promote subpar singers who will be admired for their beauty and ability to sing-speak over a nice beat. It's disgusting really. If you want to find the really good American singers you have to do a lot of research b/c they aren't being promoted like artists such as Ciara who just have average voices.

its true british artists like coldplay,adele,duffy,corinne bailey rae,amy winehouse, joss stone,dido,james morrison,leona lewis all have great voices write their own songs and play instruments but give american artists some credit alicia keys, taylor swift and even justin do that too granted they're the only american artists i can think of who do but still not ALL of them are shit............just most of them haha

@ThomasTheAlleyCat - As long as you continue this jealous outlook upon REAL artists (such as Adele) you will miss out on many great musicians in life. She's a doll - a sense of humor, an honest heart and not to mention the astounding sound that comes from her. She also plays instruments, rather than relying completely on a computer like more than half of the "artists" out there today. She might be bigger than Katy Perry or Rihanna, but she's far more beautiful than them. F.U!!

Some of these comments are so absurd that it makes me wonder why people say the stupid things they do. They can't just listen to the talent and enjoy it. Talent is talent and it exist all over the world. A British artist is not better than an American artist and visa versa. Adele sounds so bluesy . . . where do you think she got that from, because the blues were born in the American south and her dog is named Louis Armstrong. Adele is awesome, so does it matter where she is from: ENJOY!
