The first round of the 2011 pedalon.co.uk SouthernXC Series saw some new faces on the podium of the Elite race. Steve James (Hargroves) took an emphatic win by over one and a half minutes from Ben Thomas (Torq) and Simon Ernest (AWCycles). The extended Checkendon course tested everybody to the limit and proved a fitting start to the series. Watch out for updates from the other races of the day soon.
