Clip displays a sample of tones from this amp. Samick Ultramatic UM-3 direct into amp with T.C. Electronics G-Major in the loop. Starts off bluesy clean with a short tight reverb in the loop; then increased amp gain, decreased mids a bit and changed effect parameters for a more rectified sound; then backed off the gain a smidge, put back the mids for a dirty blues sound and again changed reverb settings. Switching noise is my p/u selector. With bridge selected and digging into the strings give a nice crunch. Middle & Neck plucked gently coaxes a decent clean. Please excuse sloppy playing - frozen fingers. It's cold in my house. Natural gas is expensive here. It's cheaper to turn on all my tube amps and warm the house that way :)

  • Way to much over drive , ditch the pedals and just play the amp.

  • @JBL8863 --- Your mistake: There are NO pedals. Guitar goes straight into amp. Overdrive produced soley from the SL-X factory preamp. There recorded signal, however, is slightly distorted because the volume coming out of the 4x12 speaker cab is over-saturating the cheap built-in video-cam mic. BTW, you're a drummer right? I checked your videos - you should tune your toms, dampen your bass drum & loosen your grip when playing the cymbals.

  • No You don't need a midi pedal. You should just demo the amp with NO Effects so we can truly hear the natural nuances, and the TONE unadulterated. Too bad.

  • @ThePhallystorm - - I SHOULD? Says who? If you're purist ears are troubled, simply click one of the DOZENS of other YT posts displaying the SL-X's dry tone. My upload attempts to show the VERSATILITY of this amp, since many have labeled it a one-trick-pony. The touch of reverb/delay and nuance of shifted pitch are offered up here to open your mind to some alter POSSIBILITIES; But alas, horizons blind a rigid mind!

  • Nice Amp and playing isn´t bad ;-)

But Hell...if u wanna show an amp...turn of the effects so we can hear the real amp sound ;)

  • @Wolfesnacht --- Yeah, it was my first try at recording a live amp setup. I had just gotten the G-Major and wanted to show some of the possibilities of this amp with a quality effect unit in the loop. When I have a chance I'll post up a dry sample.

  • bad ass.

  • @sunbeamstrut I got the 50w 2500 SL-X. Awesome amp. Theres a lot of hate about these amps, Generally from folk who obviously sit on forums reading shit all day and have never owned one or played one for more than 2 minutes. The 900 is the dark horse of the JCMs. Loud & Proud!

  • @sunbeamstrut LOL...that's a rack effects module sitting on top of that head right? You changed it to 32-19-38.. colors your sound...

Just play the amp and loose the rack mount that's going to fall and hit the floor.

I use a timponic drum tunner to tune toms...better than tunning by ear. If the bass drum was set any lower it would be like hitting a cardboard box. Aquarian super kick2 batter with Evans EQ pad, mic inside the drum position center with a stand bolted insde. LOL..

  • Luckily the tc electronics are VERY transparent, and dont effect the overall tone. :) cool demo of both products.

  • I love the sound of a Marshall clean. No hesitation, just right there in your face. The drive is sweet as well.
