This is an audiovisual slideshow treatment of humanity's finest and most daring collective accomplishment. The video track comprises 160 public domain NASA photographs from the six manned Apollo lunar landings, July 1969 - December 1972. The soundtrack is Beethoven's Opus 112, "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage". The performance is by the Choir and Orchestra of the University of Witten/Herdecke, Summer 2007 Concert. The audio is a free public domain download, remastered on a dual-boot G3 Imac desktop with Pro Tools, Toast Titanium and Quicktime Pro. The slight variation to Beethoven's original title is a pun on the name of the first lunar landing destination - the moon's Sea of Tranquility.

I just experienced a magnificent performance of this at the NC Symphony in Raleigh, NC Friday night, March 25, 2011. A huge chorus was used and they also performed John Adams' Harmonium.

I just performed this piece this week (as a member of the chorus), and it was so powerful. Beautiful.
