Uhh no, keep your fingers open slightly and relaxed hands. Go watch Michael Phelps or Ian Thorpe swim, there hands are relaxed with fingers open. This allows for more surface support by spreading your fingers slightly.
Think about it, do you run flexed/tense feet while forcing your toes together? I would hope not. Trust me and spread those fingers a bit for more support. You will also cause less strain on your hands/arms/shoulders.
