@jean3tte That's not entirely true though! To escape hypochondria, you must face your fear. It's a phobia, just like being afraid of spiders or snakes. Distractions and reasurance while going into a hypochondria panicattack will only make next attack worse and you'll never get better. It may seem good right then and there, but it only feeds the monster. Yoga is good though and also eating healthy and exercise!

@PringDaddyPring I was 12 years old when I was diagnosed with hypochondria. I've had asthma ever since I was 2 years old, bad asthma that has kept me from doing stuff that I've wanted to. This led at first to a fear of hospitals and medication, but later transformed into so called "asthmaanxiety" and hypochondria. It's not weird to have hypochondria in your teens, anyone with anxiety running in the family or a past full of disease can get it. I'm now 15 and still ill.

I need help, every disease I hear about, I think I have it...:(

it's highly doubtful that a teenager (or 11 year old) has hypochondria .. Modest worry about your health is common... which I am sure is all you have... Hypochondria is completely debilitating and it's not a joke... It's a terribly overused word, it's not funny and if you actually suffer from it, I assure you it is the most unpleasant experience you will ever have.

@Daniel2131990 Your parents are correct. These problems are all in your head and the more you think about them the worse you'll get. You have to think about something that makes you comfortable and happy-like a happy memory, a childhood vacation spot, a favorite pet, etc. Just think of these things when tackling your fear and it will seem less scary. Other things to do to try and lessen your anxiety are exercise, eat healthy, and lots of yoga! Trust me, yoga is very beneficial for anxiety. =D
