This video was made specifically and only truly for those people who are on the Line 6 Variax Forum hosted by Rich Renken Product Manager from Line 6.

This video is demostrating some of the things that consistently keep being brought up as a "flaw" in the Variax design. I inally decided after months of reading these comments and complaints to just do my own comparison video using the same amp and playing my Les Paul, then Playing similar bits with my Line 6 Variax Electric Model 700.

This is the only purpose for this video and is for that reason alone.

  • Where do they hide the pick ups?? Great sound btw!!

  • @thehardcoreguitarist Hi - thanks for the comment!! I'm a HUGE Line 6 gear owner besides the guitar and amp you see in this video. This does not have the obvious conventional magnetic pu's, but each string has a piezo pick-up located within the bridge/tailpiece. Kinda like how Ovation electric/Acoustic guitars work. NOT a synth instrument, its a computer samples of over 25 guitars. Photos in the owner's manual. Most guitars it copies are guitars I would never be able to own & its so much more!!

  • Did you have to alter it any? New tuners etc.? I played a variax 300 about a month ago and I would have had better luck tuning wires nailed to a fence post and the bridge looked like it was made out of some cheap Chinese pewter. The tonal quality sounds fine but I'm a little concerned with the physical aspects (playability and durability) after that experience. Don't get me wrong I'm not a purest. I have a PodX3 (Line 6) and love it.. So I've nothing against modeling. Just curious.

  • @iceman1960 - I think the first thing you need to know is that you bought the cheapest model Vax ever produced by Line 6. It's a piece of crap on the outside with the same guts as my model 700 has. I DID put on Planet Wave Auto-Trim tuners because it helps keep the guitar - ANY guitar in tune since the string does not wrap around the post at all, so nothing to slip or get twinged. I also change the cheap plastic nut for a real bone one. That is all I did to my 700's & I think they rock!!

  • @Golfinnder If you want a guitar that can sound like nearly any guitar you can think of, then buy the Variax. It has 25 different guitar models of both electric and acoustic built in ready to play right out of the box. Then if you buy the Workbench software, you can customize any of the features from the body type to the tuning and pick gain on each guitar model.

  • @Golfinnder Hi - what is it you want me to recommend? Whether you should pay about $3,000.00 for a nice used Les Paul Classic from Gibson's Custom Shop or spend $1,500.00 or less for a brand new Variax model 700? Of you only want one sound from one guitar, then buy any guitar at whatever price fits your budget that you feel most comfortable with.

  • @OcalaMusician which one do you recomend us? i would like to buy one, great guitar.

  • Great tone!I am going to be buying a variax 700 in the next month or so.I use a POD live xt.I heard the Variax 700 is better because of the way it is made. Thanks for the video.

  • I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking why am I using 700's and not 600's? or are you asking which I think is better? Could you be more specific with your question please so I can answer intelligently - thanks.

  • Hi variax 600 or 700,an why?Please.Thank you.
