I drove through here recently, we took 82 from Aspen to Hwy 24, stopped at that Continental Divide scenic rest stop, that is about 12,000 feet there. We looked around Leadville and then took 24 up to I-70 back towards Denver. Leadville is neat to drive through, I have been there a few times but I could never live there, way too small and it is isolated in the winter.

Yep, small towns can be difficult at times!

Yep, it's definately a lot colder at that altitude!

Did you make it to Leadville this month (October)? I'm sure you'll find it's already
getting pretty cold there!

What is the drive like from I-70 to Leadville on 24? Is it paved and easy driving for non-mountain folks?
Great video! I'm very intrigued by "America's highest city"! :-)

Thank you for the nice comment! Interstate 70, and then Highway 24 to Leadville, are both paved and well maintained. However, both can be steep and slippery in sections - especially in bad winter weather. A non-mountain person will have no trouble getting there unless there's a huge blizzard - such blizzards only occur a few times each winter.
