@1985jon :I believe nobody did. They were scrapped once removed from service.
-
@1985jon nah 87 because suffolk transit starting in 1987 would number thier buses according to the year they came out. these buses originally were numbered 7xx but i think when 1996 or 1997 came around they got renumbered to 87xx

@ENTERTAINMENT35 Suffolk had Detriot Diesels until 1999 (2000 if you count the 6 Phantom Surburbans) the 96 and 97 Phantoms, and the 99 Orion V's had DD50 engines.
-
@8v71buses: i agree the old buses had more attitude and always will. i think they only reason why they dont have buses with those engines in them anymore was bc they polluted the environment or something idk. MTA LIB got rid of thier diesels so they cud have the clean air CNG engines on their buses to help the environment

@ENTERTAINMENT35 I love old buses! I hate that newer buses out today are quieter than the older ones. The older ones had more additude!
-
@ENYoriginal: yes you did come to suffolk county way too late darn it. they started getting rid of thier detroit desiel buses in 1999. we had nothing but detroit diesels from 1987-1995. 96 was when suffolk got a new fleet of gillig phantom buses that had newer engines
-
@8v71buses: that bus was powerful and it was darn good condition too. it was a shame they got rid of it in 2005 when they got the new buses
-
This bus sounds powerful. Awesome!
