@david197407 yep thats how it works and even the modern listers dont have glow plugs to this day just good combustion chamber design

@minedronebiznis it heats / pre heats the combustion chamber purley by compression, some more modern diesels have a glow plug for preheat, but i'm sure this early model relies purley on good old compression to generate enough heat to do the job

@minedronebiznis Diesels ignite their fuel with compressed air, yeah? So if they are turning over, they are building up heat by compressing air in the cylinder.

Never seen a Blue Post Box with an engine in it and a cement mixer attached to it....before!!!

Great old engine! Turning it over a little bit not only gets the oil circulated, but it probably also preheats the combustion chamber. Which is probably why it started so quickly.
