@ChapterBlackSaga and to give u a more proper answer: he consciously used death and the threat of death in the name of ambition. I recognize his poetry as i appreciate the wonderful music the Doors was capable to produce
I question its inner political, ethic and philosophical meaning, which is very debatable and misleading as some of the thesys the german nazis assumed and other psycotics
