I liked the one I had as well. I did the same took off that big ugly logo on the front. I gave mine to my Step son as he didn't have an amp and he gave it to someone else.. .I was not real happy about it, I had a amp down and a gig and asked to borrow it back for a weekend, umm, well I gave it to so and so... ARRGGGHHH. Great sounding amp though, I think I picked the head up for 200 bucks or so, I'll keep my eyes open for one later down the road thats for sure.

these amps just kickass man lol really nails those 80s tones

Put this head behind a vintage 30 cab and watch it go insane with tone. I put mine through my freinds messa cab and oh my god the difference from the factory cab with celestion 50's is un-freakin-real! Sounded like a messa ,without a doubt one of the most underated amps ever. Lee Jackson didn't design junk

@komputerking99 The BV models are all-tube, and in general they seem to have a more complex sound, very full throughout the entire spectrum, but tight in the bottom and rich with upper mids and highs, just a slight dip in the low-mids. You can get a true thrash tone out of a BV-60 without really "scooping" because the mids are shaped right, the gain is spread out between enough gain stages (4 12ax7's in cascade is plenty) not to get muddy, and 6L6's work BUT you can swap in KT88's.

dewy...if you're gonna play tube amps, you need to learn about them. A retube with some quality valves is probably all that amp needed. What knucklehead would give up on an amp without checking the tubes?? These things sound SICK!

Sweet tone for a Crate. How much was it?
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the stealth is not all-tube. Like the JCM-900 models, there are a bunch of solid state gain stages, silicon transistors and clipping diodes in the front end. A friend of mine bypassed all the silicon on his JCM-900 head and it ended up sounding like an 800. I'm sure if the same could be done for the stealth, it would come out sounding amazing, but they did in fact put a front-end in that amp that's just as solid state as it is tube.
