You paranoid conspiracy theorists are well aware that X Files are fiction, right?
Get a life. Read scientific books by proper scientifics on these matters if you want to know and not assume. I've seen northern lights in Norway and people thought they were seeing the coming of aliens or any other bs. But that was hundreds years ago. It is well documented as why they appear. There are natural reasons to it. And just becuase you can't explain them doesn't necessarily mean it's something weird.

It says (among other theories) this: "One explanation involves intense electric fields created piezoelectrically by tectonic movements of rocks containing quartz"
