@MitchellM15 Yeah I have something too with like 4 inch long legs that don't extend, hardly ever use it but it's kinda neat, also have one of those with the legs that are totally adjustable and you can form them around things...kinda cool.

applied to work for Doyles, glad I didn't get the job, their trucks are poorly maintained and didn't feel right being called a garbo, lol. I stick with Marrell bin lifters instead or maybe hooklifts as my next job
-
@MitchellM15, that's true, all part n parcel of the job. It's really annoying when bins start acting like smart arses, fkn jumpin off the lifter, falling off the lifter into the hopper etc
-
haha You gotta hate it when you hit it in the wrong spot, but shit happens ey? One thing I hate is when the corner of the bin's lip smashes into your hip... now that sucks!
-
@DarkestLord i know, a while back, i was wearing some light shoes and i kicked a bin's axle (in an attempt to move it), hurt bad. Ever since that happened, i'll allways wear steel toe shoes on the garbage run..
-
Amen. That and busted toes suck!
Good one again, nothing really to say! Just keep one eye on the camera like you did in the busy areas, do you have a mini tripod for it or what? How do you angle it (if at all)? *****

@Trashman242 Yeh don't like to leave it in the open when it's a busy area... unless I'm looking at it every 3 seconds :D Yep I have a little tripod which I set up for these shots; there are three extendable legs which allow me to angle the view nicely on some slopes. I can also turn the camera around on the tripod, but the ball joint is pretty stiff, so I don't bother most the time.

Get yourself some gloves as well. Great vid by the way! If you are on a route where you are handling a lot of debris, you never know what kind of shit people will throw out. I have seen guys get hurt from sharp objects and watch out for needles. Watch how you lift stuff. Never, Never, Never, lift with your back, and if it is too heavy get help.

I've got heaps of gloves that I've taken from the Veolia trucks haha In this one I was wearing my quality red leather ones which a Strathfield driver gave to me - that was over a year ago, so they're not so flashy anymore. Not hard to get cut by something with this job hey? I still remember looking at my finger once to see it blood soaked - something sliced my glove, and I didn't even feel it. Yep I know, gotta bend the knees...
