Part 4 - It's a Small World
During the 1960's, Walt Disney was working very hard to create new attractions at Disneyland that would feature Audio Animatronics.

Meanwhile, he heard that a World's Fair was being planned and he wanted to use this as an oppurtunity to test these new robotic figures.

He got the sponsors of four big companies: Ford, General Electric, State of Illinois and Pepsi Cola.

Here he created some of the most importatn attractions ever created for a theme park.

He created The Magic Skyway (Ford), The Carrousel of Progress (General Electric), Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln (State of Illinois), and It's a Small World (Pepsi).

Now, through this time machine, we will see these old attractions in their original state and see how truly sacared they are to the development to Disneyland.

  • I'm looking for the precise geo co-ordinates of both the Tower of the Four Winds and

the main entrance of "PEPSI-COLA presents Walt Disney's "it's a small world" a Salute to UNICEF and the Children of the World" at the New York World's Fair in 1964-1965 (well, that certainly is a long title, isn't it?)

    Is it nearby 40.74763, -73.84392 ?

  • @Kartoonkid95 I don't know. But I thought I heard someone say that the ride was made in partnership with UNICEF.

  • @ztslovebird But wasn't the ride sponsored by Pepsi at the fair?

  • They should add haiti to help the hation kids but i went to dinsey in 2003 and am going back again on tuseday i was three yrs old whem i went know i am 12 lets x how much has chamged…

  • recently i went to magic kingdom and enjoyed the Its a small world " attraction-- 2 years ago i was at disneyworld and could see that its not the same of magic kingdom-

id like to know if " great moments with mr linconl" is now at disneyland?

  • Hmmm . . . since It's a Small World was created for and sponsered by UNICEF, does that mean all the coins that are dropped/tossed into the river by riders are donated to UNICEF? They must've made a FORTUNE when the ride was renovated!!

  • @disneyfan85 Why didnt the Magic Skyway ever make it to Disneyland ? Because had planned to put it in Tomorrowland as part of the New Tomorrowland and would been adjacent to Adventure Through Inner Space.

  • I went to EXPO (World's Fair) 2005 in Aichi, Japan and more recently, to EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, China. I love these events and as a Disney fan it's great that Disney magic has made a great contribution to them. Too bad this World's Fair in New York, according to my research, is not recognized under the International Exposition Bureau (BIE).

On a side note, Disney contributed to the USA Pavilon in Shanghai, and Mickey makes a cameo appearance :D.

  • In the end, the only part of Magic Skyway that made it to Disneyland was the scene with the dinosaurs. They became part of the Primeval World diorama, visible from the Disneyland trains (between Tomorrowland and Main Street).
