I know I said she wasn't a superstar, but I must admit that Mamie is hot. She is especially smokin' in the opening sequence of her from 1964's "3 Nuts in Search of a Bolt".

@1967mansfield Actually, I've read magazines from the 1959-60 peroid calling her "The fifth highest female box office attraction" in America. She made 10,000 a week by her night club act, so I reckon to disagree with you politely!!! I think that's more than Jayne Mansfield made..

An intereting lady, good she speaks out before it is too late.

'...I mean it was inbelievable.' You can hear her dentures knocking around in her mouth...I believe that women should respect their age.

@toontownkiddy Me too, she has a really good plastic surgeon and really good genes I guess. I mean, she's as old as my grandma and looks so much younger...

@MrTylerS123 Yes. Mamie Van Doren was "Universal's version of Monroe", I guess. :P

Anybody else notice how they play Marilyn Monroe's "I wanna be loved by you"?

Despite being a popular sex symbol of the mid to late 1950s, and up until the early-1960s, Mamie Van Doren, never obtained superstardom. In most of her features, Van Doren played a second fiddle to more talented and more respected performers. Howevwer, she was known as "Universal's Marilyn", making notice to Mamie being Universal Studio's answer/version of 20th Century Fox's Marilyn Monroe. In today's world, Van Doren doesn't hang on with a large classical following.
