Wild people, like wild animals, are unpredictable. Government agent on board to protect us ran off and hid. We were warned there could be problems because the area we were passing through seldom saw westeners and there was very little evidence that it was peaceful. Originally we were to go down the blue Nile but that was canceled because of bandit activity. Saved camera by hiding it in long italian bread roll. We got away with the rafts, and part of our food supply and our scalps. They had guns, we had paddles.
