You can't judge an entire nation based on what is mainstream or based upon their governments views. If I did that about Europe I would think that everyone there is lazy, their government's bitch, on welfare, and pretentious assholes. That however isn't entirely the case, of course it's true for some, but that goes for any stereotype.

well that just goes to show the true ignorance of american's (this coming from an american). these two cant be compared simply because europeans dont want a super or federal state. they like their heritages and histories just fine, the eu just complements these. take a class and learn some history its the perfect cure for the disease of ignorance.

It dosen't really make sense comparing a country with union. And how does military makes your country better? In fact for a union that had to be created from everything that was left after WW2 and having to build economy from nothing(USA helped-fact), and half of countries being from former USSR+cultural and language diferences makes EU kinda stronger in the overal. Did I mention EU is only half the size of US?
