In 1991 Brett "Cowboy" Kobernik met the owner of Voile, Mark "Wally" Wariakois and Cowboy and Wally started the splitboard revolution. Seen here in Powderwhore's new movie Breaking Trail, Cowboy talks about his career as a Utah Avalanche Forecaster and the early days at Voile prototyping the first Voile splitboard. Not to mention making some sweet turns on the original Voile 195 Swallowtail splitboard.

Been split boarding on and off since 95' and glad to see the equipment getting better, back in those days making your own sketchy split boards was scary at times. Hell of a lot better than snoeshoeing with that board on your back or post-holeing and wasting all your energy.
For the true big mountain snowboarder, a Splitboard with a snowmobile is the ultimate combo to get anywhere you want. Even with just the Splitboard you save so much energy & really learn about the conditions and surroundings
