Folk duo Atlantic Bridge playing trad. Irish, Scottish, Canadian, English and Shetland folk at 'l'Homme Vert' St Pierre sur Orthe, Mayenne, France. Spring has sprung! The Green Man lives!
Hi picaroon, I've been to several concerts of Atlantic Bridge in France. I understand they tour around the UK periodically as well. They've appeared in several festivals around England. The crowds go nuts for them here in France as I've witnessed. I'm not sure what label they are on but I think there are outlets that carry their new CD. I'll let you know when I find out as I'm learning the fiddle and want to get a recording myself.
I was just given the link to this vid and it's my first exposure to this genre. Except I've seen River Dance and the Chieftains which is similar I guess. This is more raw and natural somehow and digs deeper into my soul; in short-I LOVE it. I hope they post more vids. Do you know where I can get some CD's of this duo?
I love traditional music and the live quality of spontaneously made variations add to the ongoing evolution of this centuries-old music. This is a prime example. I like the way cajun rhythms 'creep' into these scottish polkas giving them extra 'drive'. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck crawl with delight. Superb! And the transition from a mandolin-violin duet on the beginning march slamming into a fully swinging scottish polka like that is a rare treat indeed; especially with the guitar.
Hiya Terry...can't wait until you guys tour Canada. Post some more video!!!!!!!
