Retired Kodak engineer, Ron Mowrey, teaches how to make emulsions to coat paper or film. Formerly director of still photography at Cape Canavarel, and now retired from Kodak, he draws from a wealth of experience as he teaches how to prepare the emulsion, then how to use a specially designed blade to prepare paper, glass or film with a high resolution, low speed coating.

  • I will forward your question to Ron Mowrey for an answer. Thank you for watching.

  • Do you know if Ron will be doing any workshops this coming summer (08)?

  • I am told that Ron will be teaching a workshop in June 2008. It will likely be Coating, as in the past two years.

  • With the emulsion coating blade, is it possible to get the emulsion layer 4 microns thick when the emulsion is dry?

  • what type of emulsions are you using? can you use acrylic emulsions?

  • Very, very good. What dyes and how much do I need to add to make an orthochromatic film emulsion? Where can I buy polyester stock and the rest of the supplies?
