This is the intro sequence of the game Space:1999 for the Oric (a 6502-based computer of the 80's). Sound is quite distorted, probably because of problems when running the emulator (Euphoric) over DosBox in my laptop. Hope you like it.

In fact this is a *new* isometric adventure game, made in 2008. Sound is much better on the real machine, as well as when emulated under Virtual PC.

This intro has been programmed by people of the defence-force group (Dbug made the intro and music was done by Twilighte), I just put it altogether and integrated it within the game.

I wanted to post also a bit demo of the gameplay, but had no time yet. Maybe soon :)

  • This is brilliant .. I still to this day do not understand how you elite Oric hackers can get those colors out of the Oric-1, but hey .. I'm playing this game and loving it. Well done! :)

  • I still have my Oric 1 and the original Oric printer in their original packaging with a good pile of games. I should sell it hahaha

  • stunning graphics for it's time..Retro gaming is gaining ground these days..Thanks..

  • hah you had a Spectrum... maybe that was the problem xDD

  • wait no, it was AY 3-voice chip

so it is supposed to sound even better

just because you had spectrum with poor graphics and sound doesnt mean that every 8-bit was the same!

  • And yeah it sounds distorted.PC Speaker was Oric sound device and it sounds better than this

  • "sound was never one of the 8bit computers strong points. Still good for the day though"

then you never heard C64, Ataari 400/800, or Sega Mark II FM Sound.
