HB 176 would take away a student's right to vote in the town where they attend college. It would also jeopardize voting rights for military families on assignment in NH. This bill has the support of the House Republican leadership. See what happened when that leadership happened to pass by one group of college students rallying in opposition to the bill before the public hearing on Thursday, February 24th.

  • So, this was the inevitable next step in the gopee's plan to disenfranchise the middle and working classes: try to take away our right to vote.

I wonder if the college rethugs are included?

And is it OK for "inexperienced" young people to go to war, but not to vote?

"People get the Government they deserve." I hope everyone's learned their lesson.

  • Wow. The Republican party really is resembling F*scists these days.

  • @MarlingTheDruid The night I heard about this the video it was not on youtube. After watching the video a day latter I'm not sure its real. I've read the bill, not other peoples op's on it. I read it. It dosent take their voting rights away, it makes them vote where their from. I understand why this bill is here, and I hope it and the bill to force I.Ds to vote passes.

  • @snowmoutain01 He says they tend to vote liberal, just search "O'Brien wants to limit voting rights" and it's the first link. Hard to do, I know.

  • Bill O'Brien stated plainly that for purely political reasons, he wants 2 eliminate the rights of college students to vote *and* to even register to vote because they typically "vote liberal" and with "their hearts"

How evil & how very typically Republicunt: they hate giving rights to actual people, and love that corporations are bestowed with "individual" rights.

I've got news for u, It's a financial hardship 4 many students 2 get "home" 2 vote... But that's his point, isn't it?

  • @snowmoutain01

How very disingenuous u are 2 suggest the video doesn't exist simply bcz *u* supposedly couldn't find it. It took me about 2 minutes searching google to find it:

    h t t p : // tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo . com/2011/03/nh-gop-seeks-to-disenfranchise-students-who-just-vote-their-feelings-video.php

  • @snowmoutain01 Having gone and read both Bills now I don't see what the problem is. This is not stopping these students from voting, its making them vote where they live full time. I've spent 30 minutes looking for the video where Speaker William O'Brien "disses" the student, and its no where to be found, which translates to fake and the AP being irresponsible for even mentioning it. I didn't just search youtube, its not anywhere.

  • How is ignoring a small group of protesters "dissing young adults-again"? where is the first "diss"? If this is for real I'll be right with you shouting that its wrong. So far I have been unable to find his first reported speech where he says college voters all vote Democrat.

  • Insult away, doesn't really bother me. It's the typical Alinsky Liberal attack.

But there's one thing you can't do.

    Prove me wrong.

  • WhoisJohnGalt86!!! HAHAHAHA BEST NAME EVER I TAKE YOU SO SERIOUSLY IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY.

  • For those interested, an opinion online U.S. News & World Report. Also article Washington Post, March 7.

  • ANOTHER PERFECT EXAMPLE OF LIBERALS SPREADING INACCURATE INFO BECAUSE THEY ARE IGNORANT.

"...*in the town* where they attend college."

"...military families *on assignment* in NH."

NH HB 176 says students and soldiers must vote in their home district or state.

If it's not your place of permanent residence, you can't vote there. Pretty simple.

Ever heard of an absentee ballot?

"TELL ME WHAT LIBERAL DUMBASSES LOOK LIKE!"

"THIS IS WHAT LIBERAL DUMBASSES LOOK LIKE!"
