@rydiecyj One thing you can do is cast on, join and knit a few rounds on DPNs or whatever you like, then move everything over to the circulars.

Wow, this was very informative. I really learned a lot. I am going to try this. One question, would this only work on two exact items because mittens have thumbs differently on each one. Would that get too compilicated?

@Melatina77 No, you could still use this technique, even if you're knitting a left and a right mitten. But most mitten patterns (like mine) don't have a L and R. They are exactly the same and interchangeable between the two hands.

Would this method work for mittens/gloves too? I guess it would have to be for mittens or gloves worked from the cuff up.

@1HappyNut Yes - this pattern works for any tiny tube you want to knit, although it would get very cumbersome on the fingers of gloves. I also recommend magic loop. YouTube won't let me link to it here, but I have another video tutorial on knitting magic loop socks, which is with just one circular needle.
