A saw mill not far from Shanghia From the docks where the timber arrives in China to the lumber and plywood mills and the furniture factories, Assignment Earth witnesses first hand the demand driving China's wood products industries.
I'm really getting sick of stories like this one. How many times should we hear this stuff with no sign of action? I would go fight in a war against any country which actively was destroying the remaining forests of the world. That should be the policing we do globally. In this way we could best protect future generations. WAR I SAY
Maybe a drastic change to our mentality as to how we build our lifes and economies is needed. It should start with the people who buy those wooden floors.
This is hardly just a chinese problem, I see it more as a product of unrestraint consumerism from our "developed" economies which is based on waste and consumption for growth. As most of the worlds population aspires to that lifestyle and economic model we faces a problem when more and more people can afford such a lifestyle i.e. chinese, indian, russians etc.
well yeah we can tsop using wood to make thinsg and build houses but every day more ppl are being bord and becuase of health care and just health in genrale ppl live longer so besides the wood we nedd ladn were are we gonna put all theses growing ppl..
