I saw this one on a video in my ELP class in high school.

I think LBJ went a little TOO FAR with his criticism of Goldwater.

Barry Goldwater was a very intersting man, he had a lot of consertative and liberal views, he believed in gay rights but didn't support the Civil Rights Act of 64! Weriod, isn't it! But i respect Barry Goldwater because of his honsetly and not many politicans and men are as honset and upfront about how they feel as he was! He was a real man, not the sterotypical, jock, hypermuscle, hip - hop sort of man!

There is a very simple explaination for why Goldwater took those views. The Civil rights act was a blatant overstepping of the Federal Government's power, he was a man that believed in States rights. The Civil rights created Federal authority where none should be. As for Gay rights he was famous for saying"a man does't have to be straight, just shoot straight", another words, it doesn't matter what a man does in his private time its no ones business especially not the Governments.

Goldwater didn't vote for the Civil Rights Act to carry the south

I'm so glad Goldwater lost in 1964. However, he was a lot better in his later life when he became liberal.

Liberal? No, he never became liberal. He was a libertarian -- he believed that the government should stay out of the bedroom (abortion rights), just as it should stay out of your pocketbook (low taxes).

It was the rest of the Republican Party that changed, not Goldwater. As Goldwater said defiantly: "You are extremists, and you've hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have."

LBJ was one tough politician. Some pretty dirty tactics used here.

A very impressive advert. Simple visual, clear vocals, long enough to catch your attention but not so long as to bore you.
